  • Review the definition, etiology (triggers and risk factors), and assessment of acute asthma exacerbations.
  • Determine patient eligibility for, or appropriateness of, home-based or medical office-based management of acute asthma exacerbations.
  • Describe the goals of therapy and treatment approaches for home-based or medical office-based management of acute asthma exacerbations in children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for the management of asthma exacerbations at home or in the medical office based on patient- and disease-specific factors.
